Arsenal officially completes the permanent transfer of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié..

Arsenal announced on their official website on Thursday that they have officially signed Ecuador international defender Piero Hincapié from Bayer Leverkusen in a permanent transfer.

According to Arsenal's official statement, Hincapié has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.

About Piero Hincapié

The 24-year-old Hincapié was born on January 9, 2002, in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. He is 1.83 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back but can also play as a left-back.

Hincapié played for the youth academies of several small and medium-sized clubs in Ecuador from a young age. In 2016, he joined the youth academy of Independiente del Valle, making his first-team debut in August 2019. During his time with the club, he won the U20s Copa Libertadores title.

The following August, Hincapié briefly joined Talleres, where his impressive performances quickly attracted the attention of numerous clubs in Europe's top five leagues.

In August 2021, Hincapié moved to Bayer Leverkusen for €6.35 million.

After joining Leverkusen, his consistently excellent attacking and defensive abilities not only secured him a regular starting position but also drew interest from Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea.

During his time with the club, Hincapié won one Bundesliga title, one DFB Pokal, one DFL-Super Cup, and reached one UEFA Europa League final with the club.

On the 2025 summer transfer window deadline day, Hincapié joined Arsenal on-loan.

Last season, Hincapié made 39 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists, helping the club win the Premier League title, as well as reaching the finals of the Carabao Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
