July 11th news, According to the Associated Press, the Dallas Mavericks have officially signed European prospect Tarik Biberovic . This completes the previously announced mega-trade involving six teams.
Through this trade, the Mavericks not only acquired the NBA rights to Beberovic , but also added forward Santie Aldama and guard Marcus Sather from the Memphis Grizzlies . This six-team trade also involved the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers.
The 25- year-old Biberovic hails from Bosnia and Herzegovina and has played in the Turkish professional league for the past eight years. He was selected late in the second round of the 2023 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies and now finally has the opportunity to play in the NBA .
Aldama also hails from the Grizzlies. The 6'3 " Spanish forward played five seasons in Memphis, averaging 10.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game . He previously played two seasons at Loyola University Maryland before entering the NBA .
Sarser is a Dallas native who joined the Mavericks from the Pistons. Over the past three seasons, he has played 166 games, averaging 7.0 points and 2.7 assists per game. Sarser played four years for the University of Houston during his college years.
As part of the trade, the Mavericks sent guard AJ Johnson, a protected 2030 first-round pick, and a 2029 second -round pick to the Grizzlies in exchange for Aldama and the rights to Biberovic.
In addition, this six-team trade also involves Khris Middleton 's return to the Wizards. Middleton previously joined the Mavericks in the Anthony Davis trade, and then returned to Washington via a sign-and-trade.
