July 16 - According to ESPN, Lithuanian center Jonas Valanciunas has officially returned to European basketball after 14 seasons in the NBA.
The 34-year-old Valanciunas officially signed a two-year contract with Lithuania and EuroLeague team Zalgiris Kaunas on Wednesday, which runs until the 2027-28 season. Specific salary details have not yet been announced.
Previously, the Denver Nuggets waived Valanciunas last week. In the 2025-26 season, he played 65 games for the Nuggets, averaging 8.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Jonas Valanciunas was selected 5th overall in the first round of the 2011 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors, and began his professional career thereafter. During his 14- year NBA career, he played for the Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, and Nuggets, appearing in a total of 1,002 regular season games.
