Getafe announced on their official website on Wednesday that Torino's Georgia international center-back Saba Sazonov has joined the club on a free transfer.
According to the La Liga club's official statement, Sazonov has signed on a short-term one-year deal which will only run until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.
About Saba Sazonov
The 24-year-old Saba Sazonov was born on February 1, 2002, in St. Petersburg, Russia. Standing at 1.94 meters tall, he primarily plays as a center-back but can also play as a defensive midfielder. He holds dual Russian and Georgian citizenship.
Sazonov joined Zenit St. Petersburg's youth academy at the age of six, began playing for their reserve team in 2019, and completed his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in May 2021.
In the summer of 2021, Sazonov moved to Dynamo Moscow on a free transfer.
On the 2023 summer transfer window deadline day, Sazanov joined Torino for €2.75 million.
The following summer, Sazanov was loaned-out to Empoli, but before he could even make an official appearance, he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a training camp, sidelining him for two years.
During his time at I Granata, Sazanov made only 13 appearances for the Serie A club in all competitions, failing to score or assist.
