After Hungary's 2-1 victory over Ukraine, coach Marko Rossi stated that it wouldn't be surprising if Ukraine ultimately took all three points. The match, held in Trnava, saw Hungary largely dominated by Ukraine in the first half, with the opponent creating numerous threatening attacks. In the second half, Hungary gradually found their form and, through goals from Milan Toth and Mark Cinger, completed the comeback to win 2-1. After the match, Hungary's national team coach, Marko Rossi, commented on the game.
Marco Rossi said: "We got a very important victory, but frankly I have to admit that, overall, we didn't entirely deserve it, especially in the first half. We also have to accept that if Ukraine had won today, that result would have been just as fair."
"In the past, when the team had bad luck, I would always point that out frankly, so this time I must admit that we were indeed blessed by Lady Luck. Without this luck, it would have been difficult for us to get the three points in this game."
"In the first half, we struggled to get the ball into the attacking third. Our opponents dominated in many 50/50 duels, and we were lucky to avoid conceding goals several times. At halftime, I tried to help the players regain their confidence and improve the situation on the field through tactical adjustments."
"This change worked well in the first 15 to 20 minutes of the second half, but we gradually became fatigued and had to retreat further into defense. Due to our disadvantage in height and physique, we had a hard time dealing with Ukraine's physical advantages, which became crucial in many one-on-one duels."
“When facing opponents with such excellent physical attributes, we often need to put in more effort during the game, and the other teams in this qualifying group also have similar characteristics. Therefore, we must put in more effort than usual in every such match.”
