The BLAST SLAM VIII group stage, the first top-tier Dota 2 tournament of the 2026-27 season, concluded on October 3.
After the group competitions, the eight teams that advanced were officially determined. Among them, the four teams from Eastern Europe swept all the group first place, demonstrating their strong regional dominance.
In the battle for first place, PARIVISION in Group A continued their form from the TI 2026 runner-up, sweeping Level UP and LGD to secure the top spot with a perfect record. Team Spirit in Group B, despite facing adjustments such as the absence of player Collapse and coach Miposhka and the use of substitutes, still managed to reverse the situation after losing the first game and easily defeat 1W.
Team Yandex, with the addition of new player ATF, showed strong momentum in Group C, defeating MOUZ and BetBoom to advance. In Group D, Aurora Gaming, with the help of their new core player Skitter, defeated GamerLegion and then reversed Team Liquid in the decisive stage to take the fourth group title.
The four teams that finished second in their groups qualified for the Last Chance. LGD Gaming, thanks to SumaiL and Wits' performances in crucial team fights, defeated Xtreme 2-1 to advance.
1W Team swept Nemesis, the dark horse, in the decisive Group B match; OG, led by the return of veteran Topson, reversed BetBoom after losing the first game in Group C to secure their ticket to the next round; North American team GamerLegion achieved an unexpected result, sweeping Liquid 2-0 with MidOne as their substitute midlaner to grab the last spot.
In the remaining matches, the four group winners will compete in a ranking tournament for the initial spots in the winners' bracket semifinals, while the four group runners-up will face off in a direct knockout format to compete for the final two qualifying spots.
