Middlesbrough officially announced the signing of Max Avstens, with the two sides agreeing to a four-year contract.

Middlesbrough have officially announced the signing of American winger Max Avsteng from Columbus Crew. The two sides have reached a four-year contract agreement, making the 25-year-old U.S. international the third player from the U.S. national team under the manager's tutelage.  

Max Avsten has extensive international experience, having represented the United States in the most recent World Cup held in his home country, and has made more than 20 appearances for the national team.  

At the club level, Max Afsten also boasts an impressive resume. During his time with Columbus Crew, he helped the team win the 2023 Major League Soccer Championship and the UEFA Cup in 2024. Furthermore, he has been selected to the MLS All-Star team twice, demonstrating his ability and influence.  

After joining the club, Max Avsteng said: "I am very excited to be here in Middlesbrough. I hope to contribute to the team through my efforts and make all the fans who support us proud. When I learned about the club's development goals, the staff here and future plans, I immediately felt that this is an ambitious club and I hope to be a part of it."

Speaking about the upcoming new phase, Max Avsteng said: "Edan Morris, in particular, has been communicating with me, introducing me to the team's tactical style, the club's culture, and the unique atmosphere of the fans here, which has given me a deeper understanding of the future."
