Official: Osasuna extends contract with 21-year-old right-back Ajibid until 2030

Osasuna announced in a statement that they have reached a contract extension agreement with Iñigo Agibide. The new contract extends the contract by three years, from its original expiry date next summer, to June 30, 2030.

Following the contract extension, Ajibid's contract will include a €15 million release clause. The club could have unilaterally extended the contract until 2029, but both parties ultimately agreed to a one-year extension.

Aguibide was born in 2005 in Navarre, a region in northern Spain, and officially joined Osasuna's youth academy at the age of 16. He initially played as a right winger, but was later gradually converted to a right-back.

On February 25, 2024, at just 18 years old, Ajibid made his first-team debut for Osasuna in the 26th round of La Liga. He subsequently moved frequently between the first team and the reserve team, and even got a starting opportunity when Valentin Rossier was injured.

Thanks to his consistent form, Ajibid has successfully filled the void left by Rosier's lingering muscle injury. He started in all seven of the league's first seven matches this season, making him the player with the most playing time in the team (a total of 566 minutes).

As of now, Osasuna sits in 13th place in La Liga with 8 points from 2 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses. According to the schedule, their next match will be an away game against Real Betis.
