The Bournemouth ECHO's resident renowned Bournemouth team correspondent Alexander Smith reported on Monday that club's defensive midfielder Alex Scott is likely to be sidelined for at least two months after suffering a quad injury.
According to Smith, Scott sustained the injury during England's a 7-0 away victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League held in Rijeka, forcing him to be substituted by Everton's James Garner in the 70th minute.
He subsequently withdrew from the England squad and returned to Bournemouth under the arrangements of the Football Association.
Bournemouth's medical staff have conducted an initial assessment of the injury, while the results of the scans are still pending, the medical team believes the quad injury is severe and expects him to be ruled out for at least two months.
If the medical assessment proves correct, Scott will be the second player to face a long-term absence due to a serious injury, following Fances U21s forward wonderkid Eli Junior Kroupi.
Kroupi had previously been sidelined for three to four months after suffering a foot fracture during a pre-season friendly in Austria in July.
The match against Croatia marked Scott's second appearance for England. He made his Three Lions debut just a week earlier by coming on as a substitute in a game against the Czech Republic.
The 23-year-old Alex Scott was born on August 21, 2003, in Guernsey, United Kingdom. He is 1.78 meters tall and plays as a defensive midfielder.
Scott previously played for Southampton, Guernsey FC, and Bristol City.
In August 2023, Scott joined Bournemouth for £25 million, becoming the most expensive player ever sold in Bristol City's history.
Since joining the Cherries, Scott has so far made 95 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League dark horse, scoring 7 goals and providing 7 assists, where his outstanding performances have attracted strong attention from Chelsea and Liverpool.
