June 14th - According to the Associated Press, the San Antonio Spurs lost to the New York Knicks 90-94 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals , falling short of the championship with a 1-4 series loss. After the game, Spurs players admitted the defeat was painful, but hoped it would motivate them to grow in the future.

Spurs guard Devin Vassell said after the game, "Our goal was obviously to win. We didn't want to just come here for a participation prize; we wanted to win."

In this game, Knicks star Jalen Brunson scored 45 points, leading his team to their first championship in 53 years. While the Spurs built leads multiple times in the series, they consistently failed to capitalize on crucial opportunities.

When discussing the reasons for the defeat, Victor Wenbanyama said, "The margin for error is very low. Our dominance is undeniable, but our mistakes and errors are severely punished, so we can no longer afford to be as inconsistent as before."
