Real Madrid triggered Germany international center-back Antonio Rüdiger's contract extension clause..


Real Madrid announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have triggered the contract extension clause of its Germany international center-back Antonio Rüdiger.


According to Real Madrid's official statement, Rüdiger's contract has been automatically extended for another year, with the new contract expiring in the summer of 2027.


About Antonio Rüdiger


The 33-year-old Rüdiger was born on March 3, 1993, in Berlin, Germany. He is 1.90 meters tall, plays as a center-back and holds dual German and Sierra Leonean citizenship. His half-brother, Sahr Senesie, is also a former professional footballer, who played as a left winger for clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim.


Rüdiger played for the youth academies of several non-league clubs in Germany during his childhood. He joined Borussia Dortmund's youth academy in 2008 and VfB Stuttgart's in 2011, before completing his Stuttgart first-team debut at the following January.


During his three years at Stuttgart, Rüdiger reached the DFB-Pokal final once.


In the summer of 2015, Rüdiger was loaned-out to Roma, with his ownership rights being exercised permanently the following summer.


In July 2017, Rüdiger joined Chelsea for £29 million.


During his five-year spell at the Blues, Rüdiger won one FA Cup, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Europa League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup, and reached the Carabao Cup final twice with the club.


After his contract expired in the summer of 2022, Rüdiger joined Real Madrid on a free transfer.


Since becoming a member of Los Blancos, Rüdiger has so far made 182 appearances for the Real Madrid across all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists, where he has won the UEFA Super Cup twice, the La Liga once, the Copa del Rey once, the Supercopa de España once, the UEFA Champions League once, the FIFA Club World Cup once, and the FIFA Continental Cup once with the club.
