Atletico Madrid striker Álvarez has publicly expressed his desire to leave the club.

Atletico Madrid's Argentine striker Julian Álvarez recently stated that he plans to leave his current club to pursue his personal dreams.

The 26-year-old top striker, who is sought after by several top European clubs, revealed his interest to the media after playing for his national team in the World Cup group stage and defeating Austria 2-0.

Alvarez revealed that he has had face-to-face discussions with Atletico Madrid's management. He stated frankly that completing the transfer is the most reasonable option at present, considering the interests of all parties, and he could not hide his desire for a change of environment.

Currently, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal have all shown strong interest in Alvarez. Among them, city rivals Real Madrid made a massive offer of £129 million this month, but it was immediately rejected by Atletico Madrid's board.

Atletico Madrid took a very tough stance in transfer negotiations, directly revealing the £431 million release clause in Alvarez's contract. Furthermore, Atletico's management even publicly mocked Barcelona's financially strained signing attempts this summer.

Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in 2024 for £81 million, and his contract was originally set to run until 2030.

Although he is determined to leave, the striker also admitted that the parties are still in a tug-of-war, and there is no clear timetable yet for where he will go next or when a final agreement can be reached.
