Thiago Silva has confirmed his return to Fluminense on a six-month contract.

Fluminense officially announced on Monday that 41-year-old Thiago Silva has returned to the club on a free transfer, effective immediately. The two sides signed a six-month contract, valid until December 31, 2026.

As a prominent representative of Fluminense's youth academy, this marks the third time in Silva's career that he has reunited with his former club. He has played for the Tricolore for a total of five and a half years, making 186 appearances and contributing 18 goals and 5 assists, winning one Brazilian Cup with the team.

To realize his dream of playing in the World Cup for the fifth time in his professional career, Silva terminated his contract with Fluminense early in January and transferred to Porto. During his time at Porto, he made significant contributions to the team's victory in the 2025/26 Portuguese league title.

Unfortunately, Silva was ultimately left out of Brazil's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This ended his brief stint in Porto, and he has been unemployed ever since.

Besides Fluminense and Porto, Silva also played for Juventude, Porto, Dynamo Moscow, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and many other teams. He also won numerous honors, including one Serie A title, one Italian Super Cup, seven Ligue 1 titles, five Coupe de France titles, six Coupe de la Ligue titles, six Coupe de France titles, one UEFA Champions League title, one FIFA Club World Cup title, and one UEFA Super Cup title, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest center-backs in Brazilian history.
