Lyon officially announce the signing of Altach's Burkina Faso international defender Mohamed Ouédraogo..


Lyon announced on their official website on Saturday that they have signed Burkina Faso international defender Mohamed Ouédraogo from Altach.


According to the Ligue 1 powerhouse's official statement, Ouédraogo has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.


Les Gones paid Altach a transfer fee of €2.2 million to sign Ouédraogo, not including €6 million in performance-related bonuses. Altach will also be entitled to 10% of any future transfer fees for the player.


After completing his transfer procedures, Ouédraogo, who was interviewed by the Lyon official website for the first time, said: "Joining Lyon is simply unbelievable for me. I've always followed this team because my father is a die-hard Lyon fan. Joining the club today means a lot to me; it's a dream come true."


"I've had several conversations with the club's management and coaches in the past few days, and everything has progressed very quickly. I will give my all on the pitch and hope to contribute to the team's success."


About Mohamed Ouédraogo


The 23-year-old Ouédraogo was born on January 2, 2003, in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. He is 1.83 meters tall and primarily plays as a left-back, but can also play as a left midfielder.


Ouédraogo joined the youth academy of Ouagadougou club Majestic FC at a young age and began playing for their first team in 2020.


In February 2023, Ouédraogo joined Altach and began playing for their reserve team that summer.


The following February, Ouédraogo completed his Altach first-team debut in an Austrian Cup match.


During his three-year spell with Altach, Ouédraogo made 72 appearances for the Austrian Bundesliga club in all competitions, scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists.
