Official: Real Sociedad extends contract with academy centre-back Jon Martin until June 2032.

Real Sociedad announced on Thursday that they have extended the contract of academy-trained centre-back Jon Martin. The new contract extends the original expiry date of 2031 by one year, until June 30, 2032.

Other reports indicate that Martin will inherit the number 6 jersey left by Aritz Elustondo next season.

The 20-year-old Martin came through Real Sociedad's youth academy and made his professional debut for the first team in La Liga on May 19, 2024. He has since gradually begun to shine, making 50 appearances for Real Sociedad to date, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist, and winning a Copa del Rey title.

With his immense potential and a €60 million release clause, Martin attracted the attention of several top clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona. However, the player ultimately chose to remain at Real Sociedad.

After completing the contract extension, Martin said: "I am happy to continue to stay at home and at the club that has given me everything. I have lived here since I was 12 years old."
