In the first round of the second season of the 2026 Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) BLAST Bounty Tournament, Team Liquid defeated Vitality 2-0, causing the biggest upset of the tournament.
Vitality, a favorite to win the championship, suffered a crushing defeat and was eliminated, marking their third consecutive match where they failed to meet expectations. Liquid fielded a completely new roster for this match, led by new in-game leader JT and featuring the young sniper Jorko. Facing the formidable Vitality, Liquid displayed exceptional efficiency in the single-elimination format.
In the first map, Anubis, Liquid tied their opponents 6-6 on defense, then dominated on offense, securing a 13-10 victory. JT performed exceptionally well, topping the kill leaderboard; Vitality's mezii, however, struggled, managing only 5 kills throughout the match.
In the second map, on Nuke, chosen by Vitality, Liquid took a 7-5 lead at halftime thanks to the solid defensive performances of EliGE and malbsMd. In the second half, Vitality failed to mount an effective counterattack on offense, with star player ZywOo performing poorly and only flameZ showing consistent output.
Liquid ultimately won the second game 13-9, securing a 2-0 victory in the series. For Vitality, their performance in the Atlanta and Cologne tournaments and this bounty tournament has been lackluster, and they urgently need to adjust their competitive form.
The revamped Liquid got off to a good start, with captain JT and EliGE working together seamlessly, and rookie Jorko showing the potential of a top sniper, helping the team advance to the next round.
