The NBA upheld the original ruling, and Vimbanyama was not given any additional flagrant foul penalty.
2026-06-10 16:11June 10 - According to ESPN, the NBA has decided, after a post-game review, not to upgrade San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wimbledon's push on Jalen Brunson in Game 3 of the NBA Finals to a flagrant foul.
The controversy occurred with 4 minutes and 44 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Brunson attempted to set a screen for a teammate near the free-throw line, and the 7-foot-4 Wambanyama turned and pushed him to the ground. Although the Knicks immediately protested to the referees, the referees did not call a foul.
Monty McCarthy, the NBA's senior vice president of referee development and training, stated on a program that the physical contact should have been called a foul. However, after reviewing the incident post-game, the league determined that the action did not meet the criteria for a flagrant foul and therefore upheld the original call without further penalty.
With the league upholding the original ruling, Wernbanyama's flagrant foul points in this season's playoffs remain at 2. According to NBA rules, a player who accumulates 4 flagrant foul points will automatically face a suspension.
