Renowned journalist Ben Jacobs refuted rumours which claimed that AC Milan's wonderkid goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni is about to join Manchester City on a free transfer..

CBS Sports' resident renowned transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, has exclusively refuted rumours which claimed that AC Milan's wonderkid goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni is about to join Manchester City on a free transfer on Thursday through his paid column.

In his column, Jacobs refuted that rumours alleging that Longoni's contract is expiring this summer (June 30th) is completely fake.

The player only transferred to AC Milan's youth academy from rivals Como's youth academy in January of this year, and at that time he had just signed his first professional contract. The possibility of his first professional contract expiring in just six months is illogical.

Furthermore, he said, although it was rumoured online that the news originated from Sky Sports' resident renowned transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, after careful verification, this claim was completely untrue.

On the contrary, this rumour originated from a certain infamoulsy notorious Chinese online media outlet that is known for its love for purposely spreading rumours. This has been confirmed by the French media outlet L'Équipe in its recent report.

Jacobs clarified that the current situation regarding Longoni is that Schira did report that Manchester City is closely monitoring the player and did not rule out signing him in the future, but that had been ongoing for two months.

However, as he pointed out above, any club wanting to sign Longoni must pay AC Milan a transfer fee plus youth compensation fees.

Any player with more than six months remaining on their contract who transfers to any other club on a free transfer is in violation of FIFA's transfer regulations.

The Premier League giants certainly understand this rule and "wouldn't naively think they could break it without consequence!"

Besides Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain is also closely monitoring Longoni's situation.

The Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League double champions are actively considering strengthening their goalkeeping position.

Les Parisiens is unhappy with the performance of their first-choice goalkeeper, Matvey Safonov, while Lucas Chevalier is considering leaving due to insufficient playing time.

Upon fact checking, this fake rumour which claimed that Longoni is "about to transfer to Manchester City on a free transfer" has indeed originated from a Chinese online media outlet known for its love for purposely spreading rumours, as refuted by Jacobs.

This outlet is none other than Dong Qiu Di, one of our "Daily Slapped in the Face Party" representatives!
