Real Madrid announced on Sunday that Florentino Pérez has been re-elected as club president. His term will be extended for another four years, until June 2030.
Florentino Pérez, 79, has been at the helm of Real Madrid for over 20 years, leading the team to a staggering 66 trophies. According to Real Madrid's published voting results, he received 21,741 votes in this election, approximately 65% of the total; the other candidate, Enrique Riquelme, came in second with 11,814 votes, roughly 35%.
In the press conference following the victory, Florentino Pérez stated, "We won the election and will continue to strive for more championships. We won at all polling stations, achieving the second-best election result in Real Madrid's history."
“I am still here, and I will continue to defend Real Madrid. We will continue to work hard to ensure that Real Madrid continues to win titles. We will fight to the last minute to win our 16th Champions League trophy. You have shown your commitment and loyalty to the club. Real Madrid has won. We have set an example of democracy, transparency and coexistence for the world. We have proven that we are a family, that we love Real Madrid, and that we are ready for the future.”
"As the president of Real Madrid, I am incredibly proud of all of you. Today is a successful election day, with members freely expressing their will and collectively deciding the fate of the greatest club in history. This is the Real Madrid we all envision: an independent Real Madrid, a Real Madrid unafraid of challenges and obstacles."
“We will continue to be proud of the Bernabéu Stadium, which is the best stadium in the world. We are proud to have the best players in the world, and we are also proud to welcome back one of the best coaches in the world, José Mourinho, a die-hard Real Madrid fan.”
“During my tenure as president, Real Madrid’s past, present, and future will always belong to its members. We must unite and be driven by our passion for Real Madrid. To the members who did not vote for me, I will do everything I can to address your concerns.”
With Florentino Pérez's successful re-election as president, Real Madrid's preparations for the next season will begin in full swing. Their primary task is to appoint 63-year-old Portuguese manager José Mourinho as the first-team coach and to invest heavily in bringing in several strong reinforcements, including Ibrahim Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, and Michael Olise.
