Sources: Colin Gillespie has signed a 4-year, $48 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns.

According to ESPN sources, Phoenix Suns free agent guard Colin Gillespie is inclined to accept a four-year, $48 million contract extension to continue playing for the Suns.

After graduating from Villanova University in 2022 and failing to make the draft, Gillespie's career has undergone a remarkable transformation in the past few years, with him struggling to find a place on a two-way contract for three consecutive seasons.

Gillespie, with his tenacity and toughness on the court, not only perfectly embodies the Suns' revitalized team spirit, but has also become a new icon of inspirational comebacks in the league, successfully securing a long-term and lucrative contract.

This signing was finalized by Gillespie's agency and the Suns' management. The Suns initially signed Gillespie to a two-way contract in the summer of 2024 and offered him a one-year contract last year for targeted development. Now, this long-term investment is finally paying off handsomely.

In his breakout season that just ended, Gillespie had a complete breakout year. He hit a staggering 232 three-pointers in a single season, breaking the Suns' franchise record for most three-pointers made in a single season.

In addition, Gillespie played 80 games in the regular season, averaging 12.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game, setting new career highs in all technical indicators.

Whether it's receiving the ball on the perimeter for spot-up shooting or creating his own offense after a screen, Gillespie perfectly complements star player Devin Booker. Statistics show that Gillespie is one of only eight elite shooters in the entire league this season who can simultaneously make at least 90 spot-up three-pointers and 90 three-pointers off the dribble.
