With just days to go before the 2026 NBA Draft, Trinidad and Tobago forward Malique Lewis is completing a final series of intensive team workouts, and his draft stock has been showing a strong upward trend recently.
The 21-year-old Lewis previously played two seasons for the Southeast Melbourne Phoenix in Australia's NBL "Rising Stars" program. Last season, he averaged 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He is currently ranked 66th on ESPN's latest list of the 100 best rookies.
The turning point for Lewis's draft prospects came in early June at the Adidas EuroCamp in Italy. During the camp, he averaged 12 points, 4.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, shooting 50% from three-point range. His highly competitive and decisive performance earned him a spot on the All-European Camp team.
Previously, Lewis had been disqualified from the NBA G League Combine in May due to potential heart health issues. However, on the night the European training camp concluded, following an evaluation meeting involving sports cardiologists, the NBA's health and participation assessment team officially approved his eligibility to play.
After resolving health concerns and demonstrating excellent performance, several NBA teams expressed interest in working out with Lewis. Following workouts with the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Cleveland Cavaliers, he had his final workout with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday before the NBA draft.
