Before heading to the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), T1's mid-laner Faker gave an interview, sharing his team's preparations, understanding of the current meta, and secrets to maintaining a high level of competition.
Because the schedule and format of this tournament are quite different from those of the LCK domestic league, Faker revealed that T1 has been focusing on adapting to the new rhythm and team training since arriving in Daejeon.
Speaking about the recent major patch changes, Faker believes that they have created more opportunities for mid-lane champions to shine, and he is actively trying out and practicing new strategies.
When asked how he managed to qualify for MSI five times in a row and maintain a consistently high level of performance, Faker's answer remained focused and pure: "Always maintain excellent performance." He also stated that he would not rank mid-laners separately, as he believes all the number one seed mid-laners are exceptionally good.
Recently, Neon, the MVP of the Valorant Masters London tournament, cited Faker as his role model for esports. Faker offered his advice: "I think you should endlessly and constantly reflect on your performance."
"And think very deeply about how you can improve yourself... keep trying to grow, and I think that's the most important thing."
Even as a legend, Faker admits that he also experiences ups and downs in his performance. When faced with a slump, his approach is to constantly look for a way to improve: "I'm always thinking about how I can improve, how I can play better, and how I can perform better in matches."
Regarding his final expectations for this season, Faker said that winning a lot of honors is not everything: "My goal this year is to show the best possible competitive performance, and my only goal is to have a year that I am completely satisfied with."
