Tuchel believes the difficult experience will boost England's morale after a thrilling comeback.

England's "Three Lions" rallied from a goal down to defeat the Democratic Republic of Congo 2-1 in a key Round of 32 match at the 2026 World Cup, thanks to a two-goal haul from Harry Kane. Tuchel stated that while the team certainly hoped for an easy victory, he also believed the difficult experience would boost their morale.

In the 7th minute, Mbemba made a long pass, and Brian Sipenga received the ball in the penalty area and seized the opportunity to score with a low shot, helping the Democratic Republic of Congo to a dream start of 1-0.

In the 75th minute of the second half, Rice created an attacking opportunity, Gordon received the pass and delivered a cross, and Kane headed the ball into the net, helping England equalize the score at 1-1.

In the 86th minute, Gordon dealt with the defense and passed the ball to Kane, who followed up and turned to fire a powerful shot into the net, helping England take a 2-1 lead.

England ultimately came from behind to defeat the Democratic Republic of Congo 2-1, advancing to the round of 16.

England manager Thomas Tuchel said, "If everyone could have their way, of course everyone would score early and then a second goal and have an easy day, but that's never how it is in real games. Of course, we wish the game could have been easier, but to come back from 0-1 down, you have to be strong in the last 25 minutes, and we won the second half again."

Speaking about captain Kane's significant contributions, Tuchel said, "That's what we expect of him, and I think that's what he demands of himself. In such a tough and close game, Kane is the one who seals the victory."
