Brighton officially announce the signing of Pascal Struijk, Rodrigo Rego and Michael Svoboda..

Brighton & Hove Albion announced on their official website on Thursday that they have signed Dutch defender Pascal Struijk, Portugal U21s international winger Rodrigo Rego, and Austria international defender Michael Svoboda from Leeds United, Benfica, and Venezia respectively.

According to Brighton's official statement, Struijk and Rego have both signed on a long-term five-year deals with the club which will run until the summer of 2031; meanwhile Svoboda has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.

About Pascal Struijk

The 26-year-old Pascal Struijk was born on August 11, 1999, in Deurne, Belgium. He is 1.90 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a left-back or defensive midfielder. He holds Belgian, Dutch, and Indonesian citizenship.

Struijk played for the youth academies of ADO Den Haag and Ajax during his childhood. He joined Leeds United's youth academy in 2018 and completed his Leeds United first-team debut by coming on as a substitute the following December.

During his seven-year spell with the Lilywhites, Struijk made 196 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 2 assists, winning two EFL Championship titles with the team.

About Rodrigo Rego

Rodrigo Rego, who is only still 21 years old, was born on January 3, 2005, in Aveiro, Portugal. He is 1.73 meters tall and primarily plays as a left winger, but can also play on the left wing.

Rego joined Porto's youth academy at the age of 7, moved to Famalicão's youth academy in 2021, and then joined Benfica's youth academy the following year. He completeld his Benfica first-team debut in a Taça de Portugal match in November 2025.

Last season, Rego only made 5 appearances for the Portuguese Primeira Liga giants in all competitions, failing to score or assist.

About Michael Svoboda

The 27-year-old Michael Svoboda was born on October 15, 1998, in Vienna, Austria. He is 1.95 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a defensive midfielder. His elder brother, Mathias, is also a footballer, currently playing for a local non-league club in Vienna as a center-forward.

Svoboda played for Rapid Wien's youth academy in 2005 but was released the following year. After leaving Rapid Wien, Svoboda joined the youth academy of SV Schwechat, a local non-league club in Vienna, before completing his SV Schwechat first-team debut in May 2016.

In July of the same year, Svoboda moved to Stadlau, another local non-league club in Vienna.

In the summer of 2018, Svoboda joined WSG Tirol on a free transfer.

During his two-year spell at WSG Tirol, Svoboda won the Austrian 2. Liga title with the team.

In September 2020, Svoboda joined Venezia on a free transfer.

During his six-year spell at Venezia, Svoboda made 138 appearances for the newly promoted Serie A side in all competitions, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists, winning the Serie B promotion play-off title with the team.
