Casemiro has joined Inter Miami as a free agent and will wear the number 5 jersey.

Inter Miami announced on Wednesday that Brazilian defensive midfielder Casemiro has joined the club on a free transfer. The two sides have signed a contract until June 30, 2027, with the club having an option to extend for two more years.

The official announcement also confirmed that Casemiro will wear the number 5 jersey at Inter Miami. He will occupy Inter Miami's "designated player" slot, and his specific salary has not yet been disclosed.

Regarding the signing, Jorge Mas, owner of Inter Miami, said: "Casemiro's arrival reflects Inter Miami's vision and ambition. We are never satisfied. We seek growth and progress every season while constantly raising our standards. We have built a global club. Our goal is not only to be the best club in the United States, but also to become a global benchmark."

After such a brilliant career at Real Madrid and Manchester United, I am delighted that Casemiro has chosen Miami as his next home.”

Casemiro, 34, came through the youth academy of São Paulo and transferred to Real Madrid in July 2013 for €6 million. He played eight seasons for Real Madrid, making 336 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists, winning five Champions League titles, three Club World Cup titles, three La Liga titles, three UEFA Super Cup titles, one Copa del Rey title, and three Spanish Super Cup titles.

In August 2022, Casemiro joined Manchester United from Real Madrid for £70 million. By the time his contract expired this summer, he had made 160 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 26 goals and providing 14 assists, winning the FA Cup and the English League Cup with the team.

On the international stage, Casemiro has been the absolute core of Brazil's midfield and defense for more than a decade. He won the 2019 Copa America with the Seleção and went on to compete in the 2018, 2022 and 2026 World Cups.

After completing the transfer, Casemiro said: "What drives me the most is winning and continuous improvement, and I believe that is true for every player. The plans the club showed me, and the efforts everyone made to bring me here, mean a lot to me."
