Last Saturday, Liverpool Football Club announced that manager Arne Sloth had officially stepped down after two seasons in charge. The Dutch coach subsequently published a farewell letter to the team's fans through the Liverpool Echo.
In his letter, Sloot reviewed the success of his first year in charge (2024-25 season), when he led Liverpool to their 20th league title in club history. He stated that winning the Premier League title in just 12 months went beyond special significance, serving as a reward for the hard work and dedication of everyone at the club.
At the same time, Sloot also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the thousands of fans who participated in the championship celebrations in the streets of Liverpool and cheered with the team.
In the letter, Slott also mentioned the shocking incident that occurred on Water Street and praised the unity and compassion shown by the city of Liverpool in the face of adversity.
In addition, Sloot expressed his deepest condolences to Diogo, who tragically passed away shortly after celebrating the title, and said that he would never forget the love and support the Liverpool family gave him during the most difficult time.
In the latter part of the letter, Sloot expressed his gratitude to the players wearing Liverpool jerseys, the behind-the-scenes staff who ensured the operation of the training ground and stadium, the club management, and the legendary figures who carried on the "Liverpool Way".
Finally, Sloot emphasized that Liverpool has returned to the top ranks of European football and secured a Champions League spot for next season. He firmly believes that the team's existing core and the emerging new generation will enable Liverpool to maintain a high level of competitiveness and continue to make everyone proud in the future.
