The Times exclusively reported on Wednesday that former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has rejected the offer to become Fulham's new manager.
According to the report, since Slot's dismissal, Fulham's management quickly approached him in hopes of securing a new manager before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, the Dutch coach ultimately rejected the offer.
Slot maintains that he has no interest in managing Fulham and is in no hurry to return to coaching. He will wait for the right opportunity and carefully review each offer before deciding which club to manage.
The report also said that although there are online rumours speculating that Slot might become the new manager of the Netherlands national team after this World Cup, current inside information indicates these rumours are unfounded.
Meanwhile, The Athletic added that after being rejected by Slot, Fulham has turned its attention to another former Liverpool figure as a potential manager.
The report states that Fulham has begun talks with Álvaro Arbeloa, however, it remains unclear whether the former Spain international defender is interested in managing at Craven Cottage.
Furthermore, both reports indicate that Arbeloa's departure from Real Madrid is inevitable.
José Mourinho will return to Bernabéu as Los Blancos' manager after triggering his €15 million release clause.
As a domino effect of this series of transfers, Marco Silva will also become the new Benfica manager.
Slot was previously announced as legendary German manager Jürgen Klopp's successor as Liverpool's new head coach in the summer of 2024.
During his time at Anfield, Slot helped the Reds win their 21st Premier League title in his first year in charge.
However, due to a significant decline in performance last season, a complete falling out with legendary Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, and the loss of support from his players, Slot was sacked on May 30.
