Atalanta officially announced on Tuesday that 42-year-old Raffaele Palladino has stepped down as head coach, effective immediately. His coaching staff will also leave, including Stefano Citerio, Federico Peluso, Fabio Colabi, Nicola Riva, Mattia Casera, Andrea Lamboni, and Andrea Berti.
Palladino spent a long time playing in Serie A as a player, and immediately transitioned to coaching after retiring in 2019. He initially worked in youth academy at Monza, and was promoted to coach the first team independently in September 2022.
Under Palladino's leadership, Monza successfully avoided relegation for two consecutive seasons. He was subsequently hired as manager of Fiorentina, where he led the team to a sixth-place finish in Serie A and secured qualification for the European Championship.
In November 2025, Palladino officially succeeded Ivan Juric as manager of Atalanta. To date, he has led the team to a record of 18 wins, 8 draws, and 13 losses, finishing the season in seventh place in Serie A.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Palladino's successor will be 67-year-old Italian coach Maurizio Sarri. The two sides are expected to sign a two-year contract, with an option to extend until June 30, 2029.
Other reports indicate that Sarri's annual salary in Atlanta is approximately 3 million euros.
Meanwhile, Atalanta are assessing potential transfer targets this summer. According to media reports, they have included Nottingham Forest right-back Nicolo Savona, Como midfielder Lucas da Cunha, Udinese midfielder Artur Atta, and Fiorentina attacker Albert Gudmundsson on their shortlist.
